1940s Experience News

Lots has been happening since our last news update. We had our 1940s Christmas House open days in November and December of 2014. A belated thankyou to everybody that came to our last two open days of 2014, and congratulations to the winner of our handmade gingerbread house which was raffled off at our December open day. We'd also like to thank everyone that took part in our 1940s Christmas decoration making workshop in November and our 1940s lucky bags Christmas event in December.

Next week (beginning Monday 19th January 2015) our Children at War visits begin again after the Christmas break. These are our highly popular school visits, that allow students to experience what life would have been like as an evacuee. We offer both single day visits and three day residential visits. For more information, and how to book, you can visit our Children at War - The Evacuees Experience page.

Last year, we had a list of our Open Days on the home page. This year, we have a new list of Open Days but I have placed it on the next events page to free up more space on the home page for the information about prices and opening times.

During the Christmas break, with seven weeks between Open Days, some new displays have been added to our Military Museum. You can view some images of the new displays by visiting our Facebook page.

in the coming months, I shall be adding new photographs to our site and replacing some of the older ones, to keep the site up to date. We will also be selecting some new pictures to go on the 1940s Experience keyrings, available in our gift shop.

I've just been given information on three sales that we are holding on the first three open days of 2015.
Sunday 25th January 2015 - Book sale
Sunday 22nd February 2015 - Vintage knitting pattern and crafting sale
Sunday 29th March 2015 - Vintage hats, gloves and bags sale
The sales will take place in the entrance foyer.

As a last point, our next open day is on Sunday 25th January 2015.

Until next time (and hopefully it won't be as long as this time)
